A very happy birthday to our own Eric Leeds. We love you!
Okay... Hello, community. I wanted you to know that classes start at the Baltimore Academy of Illustration again next week, and we really have had an amazing year, driven by our wonderful teachers and our even more than exceptional students. Our students - some who can't afford a traditional art school, some beginners, some graduates and post-graduates of arts schools, some professionals, some dilettantes, some college students, some grandmothers, some grandkids - are amazing. They are proof that what we are doing is important, because outstanding prodogies are all around us. Come feel, see, and experience the magic, because it really is magic - and I really don't even like that word. First, we have an open house on January 20th from 1 to 4 in the afternoon, then classes start next week. Also, we've got a new website for all of our students to show of their work, read comments from professionals in the field, and hopefully get some legit experience. I am privledged to know everyone involved, from our students to our teachers. I can actually say that Greg Houston and I have been tireless in our efforts to make this an important experience for anyone who wants to dabble, expand, professionalize, learn and create. Come join us. Be a part of the community. Oh, and on Saturday, free pie and beer (which don't exactly go together unless your calorie loading for a wrestling match), and, well, whatever else we buy. I'm not so great at coordinating the party thing and Julie's too busy to lend her extraordinary expertise. Sorry. We'll have to depend on Greg. Scott
THIS JUST IN! Jerome Benton will be joining us! This will be the first time the entire group "The Family" have been on stage together for over 7 years!

We won! Thanks to the support of our friends and neighbors near and far, Germantown finished in first place in the Partners in Preservation: Main Streets competition! This is an incredible victory for Philadelphia.
“Playing bass allowed me to do things with [my brothers] but also carry my own load because I had my own role,” he says. “As I started getting older and really looking at the bass, I realized, ‘wow, the whole purpose of this instrument is to serve other people.’ The whole reason for the bass being invented was to lay a foundation that other instruments can stand upon. So, it’s literally an instrument of service. And I’ve grown to love it for that reason.” Read Vic's interview with The Chicago Sun-Times below.
Thanks for the kind words, Relix!
